DACOU Broome Aboriginal Gallery is an exciting addition to the Broome art scene. We specialise in artworks from Utopia. DACOU stands for Dreaming Art Centre of Utopia and was established in 1993. DACOU is a respected name in the Aboriginal art world.
DACOU was established by Fred Torres and his mother renowned artist Barbara Weir. Barbara along with internationally acclaimed Emily Kame Kngwarreye, Minnie Pwerle (Fred’s grandmother), her sisters Emily, Molly and Galya Pwerle, Gloria Petyarre, Anna Petyarre and many other important artists are represented by DACOU.
Many of the senior artists that DACOU represents have achieved world wide recognition and are included in the permanent collections of important national and international museums.
When you visit the gallery our friendly and informative staff can help you select a painting from the 500 artworks available. Paintings range in price from $100 for artworks that will easily fit into your luggage to major paintings for the discerning art collector.
